Forty-five years ago today, an infamous memo circulated among Nixon’s high level staff leaked and showed the country the extent of the president’s paranoia. The memo’s subject line was “On Screwing Our Political Enemies” and has come to be known as “Nixon’s Enemies List.” It identifies 20 public figures (including actor Paul Newman!) and outlines how the White House was going to ruin every person on the list.
