Willis Ocean Inc. of Brooklyn, NY, is recalling 30 cases of Willis Eagle brand MUT GUNG SWEETENED GINGER, because it contains undeclared sulfites. People who have a severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Willis Eagle brand MUT GUNG SWEETENED GINGER, Net Weight 7 oz. (200g), was distributed from May 2012 through July 2016 to retail stores throughout the state of Florida.

The product is packaged in round, clear plastic containers with the title label on the top lid and the ingredient label and UPC 8935129760691 on the bottom of the container. The product was imported from Vietnam.

No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered by the State of Florida sampling and analysis that the product containing sulfites was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of sulfites. The company and the foreign manufacturer will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the mislabeling.
