NFL Alumni Announces Youth of America Week 2016

August 21-27 Events Will Impact Thousands of Kids Around the Country

/EINPresswire.com/ -- MOUNT LAUREL, NJ--(Marketwired - July 29, 2016) - The NFL Alumni Association announced that the organization's 2016 "Youth of America Week" will take place August 21-27 at locations around the country. The announcement was made by NFL Alumni (NFLA) President Joe Pisarcik and former NFL wide receiver Fred Barnett at a free youth football clinic at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Philadelphia yesterday.

Youth of America Week is a coordinated effort of NFL Alumni chapters to participate simultaneously in youth-related community service activities. Youth of America Week began in 1983 when NFL alumnus and Congressman Jack Kemp introduced a resolution that was signed by President Ronald Reagan.

"Giving back to children's charities is a cornerstone of NFL Alumni," said former Eagles Quarterback and NFLA Chairman Ron Jaworski. "Getting our retired football players together to provide positive experiences for underprivileged kids is what Youth of America Week is all about."

NFL Alumni chapters will host a variety of events during Youth of America Week including football clinics, hospital visits, a Back to School BBQ, trips to NFL training camps, and more.

"All year long, NFL Alumni chapters support children's charities in their own communities," said Pisarcik. "Youth of America Week gives us an opportunity to focus our efforts and really make an impact on a bigger scale."
