UK condemns attacks on UN bases in South Sudan
Speaking after heavy fighting erupted in Juba on 9 and 10 July, Minister for Africa, James Duddridge, said:
I strongly condemn the widespread fighting in Juba and am particularly shocked by the attacks on UN bases. Those responsible for the renewed violence should be held to account.
I am in contact with leaders in the region and join them, the United Nations and the African Union in calling on President Kiir and First Vice President Riek Machar to immediately end all violence and protect all South Sudanese civilians.
