Minister of National Revenue Announces Blue Ribbon Membership of the Offshore Compliance Advisory Committee

Minister of National Revenue Diane Lebouthillier today announced the full membership of the Offshore Compliance Advisory Committee (OCAC). This follows on the Minister's April 11th announcement that the Government of Canada will invest $444.4 million over five years to strengthen tax compliance and fight against tax avoidance and evasion, including offshore tax schemes.

The OCAC, composed of third-party experts with significant legal and tax experience, will advise the Minister and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) on current and future administrative strategies to deal with non-compliance. The inaugural meeting of the committee will be held in early June.

As previously announced, the OCAC will be chaired by Dr. Colin Campbell, Associate Professor of Law at Western University. The Committee's Vice-Chair is Kimberley Brooks, Associate Professor and former Dean of the Schulich school of Law at Dalhousie University.
