Take Notice: Employer Statements Just Got Clearer!

/EINPresswire.com/ -- OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/16/16 -- Did you know?

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is redesigning its external correspondence, including the PD7A, Statement of Account for Current Source Deductions for businesses, following an extensive evaluation completed in the fall of 2014. Focusing on how the notices are structured, designed, formatted, and written, the CRA has made changes to make the information easier to read and understand.

What does this mean for you as an employer?

Starting in May 2016, the CRA will begin sending a new, simple, and easy to read PD7A. The re-designed statement of account will have the most important information on the first page, set out in a clear and simple format. This makes it easier for you to understand your payroll obligations.

How has the PD7A improved?

-- The first page will display the most important information - remitter
type, due dates, and year-to-date remittance account balance.

-- The remittance account transactions and arrears account transactions
will be separated in table format on the second page, followed by
    explanations as needed.

-- Additional CRA services you may be interested in are highlighted. This
includes online services, Direct Deposit, My Business Account, and
operator-assisted relay services to help persons with hearing or visual
    impairments.

The simplified PD7A is part of the Government of Canada's commitment to make the CRA more client-focused and more helpful by improving the ways the CRA communicates with Canadians.
