SEATTLE, WASHINGTON, USA, May 15, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for digital English language learning products in Asia Pacific is 4.6% and revenues will reach $2.0 billion by 2020, up from $1.6 billion in 2015, according to a new report by Ambient Insight called "The 2015-2020 Asia Pacific Digital English Language Learning Market."

Forecasts for twenty-one countries are included in this report: Australia, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China (including Hong Kong and Macao), India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

In 2015, China was the top buying country, followed by South Korea, Japan, India, and Taiwan. By 2020, Indonesia will be the fourth-largest buying country after China, South Korea, and Japan.

"We have revised our Asia Pacific forecasts for digital English language learning products significantly upward from previous forecasts," reports Chief Research Officer, Sam S. Adkins. "In terms of growth rates, the highest growth rate for digital English language learning in the region (and in the world) is in Myanmar at a breathtaking 60.5%. Twelve of the twenty-one countries in this report have growth rates above 30%."

The digital English language learning across Asia is very much in flux. The more mature markets are relatively predictable, but the emerging markets can change literally overnight. This is due to a number of factors including evolving government education and language policies, which are subject to change when new governments come into office.

There are two sections in this report: a demand-side analysis and a supply-side analysis. Additionally, there is an index of suppliers competing in the region. The demand-side analyses for the region combined and for China are broken out by six buying segments: consumers, federal government agencies, PreK-12 school systems, provincial and municipal government agencies, higher education institutions, and corporations & businesses.

"There are several convergent catalysts driving the market for digital English in Asia Pacific," explains Adkins. "Those catalysts are the near insatiable consumer demand for English, the recent explosion of Mobile Learning value-added services (VAS), the massive digitization initiatives in the academic segments, new national language learning policies, the launch of the ASEAN Economic Community in January 2016, the booming tourism industry in the region, and the strong demand for English for Specific Purposes (ESP) products."

The report only includes revenue forecasts for content and does not include revenues for services. The supply-side analysis breaks out revenues for five learning technology types: retail packaged Self-paced eLearning (off-the-shelf courseware), Collaboration-based Learning (live online classes and live online tutoring), Digital Reference-ware (eTextbooks, ePhrasebooks, audio books, digital videos, test prep, and digital translation dictionaries), Mobile Learning apps, and Mobile Learning VAS. Due to the concentration of revenues in China, a forecast for these five product types is also included for China.

"The mobile network operators (MNOs) are major learning technology competitors in the region. Several countries in the region will have operational 5G networks by 2018-2020 including Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore, and Taiwan," adds Adkins. "The MNOs claim that 5G will be a hundred times faster than 4G. Obviously, this will be a game changer for the consumption of digital content."

Over 280 suppliers operating in Asia Pacific are cited in this report to help international suppliers identify local partners, distributors, resellers, and potential merger and acquisition (M&A) targets.
