Advisory: University of Calgary kicks off year of 50th Anniversary celebrations

Campus hosts first ever Alumni Weekend

/EINPresswire.com/ -- CALGARY, AB --(Marketwired - April 27, 2016) - On April 29, the University of Calgary officially marks its 50th Anniversary, launching a year-long celebration beginning with an open house for students, faculty and staff. The date marks exactly 50 years since legislation created the University of Calgary, realizing the dreams of thousands of tenacious Calgarians -- citizens and friends, students and alumni, faculty and staff -- who protested and petitioned over decades to have an independent university. The open house will be an afternoon of inspiration and entertainment, story-telling and memory-sharing, celebration and appreciation. Enjoy interactive displays and a few sweet treats.

Then on Saturday and Sunday the campus will host the first ever Alumni Weekend. This is a chance for alumni and all friends of the university to come visit campus for a two-day gathering that offers a wide range of programming. Saturday is all about learning with lectures, interactive programming, tours, exhibits and keynote presentations. Sunday's programming is more casual with activities to feed the body, soul, mind and spirit, including film programming and family-friendly activities.
