Sycamore Shoals Park to host screenings of American Revolution docudrama
The thrilling history of America on the verge of revolution sets the stage for one of our nation’s most powerful stories.
In 1775, the American Revolution turns Cameron’s world upside down, as he’s suddenly on the run from pursuing patriot militia. His ally, the Cherokee warrior Dragging Canoe, reveals great strength in maintaining his alliance with Cameron, while fighting for his nation’s freedom. Together, these most unlikely blood brothers confront the advancing forces of a movement that swept through the American colonies.
Based on the book A DEMAND OF BLOOD: THE CHEROKEE WAR OF 1776, author turned filmmaker Nadia Dean says, “Most Americans are unaware of the rich Revolutionary War history in the south, or that the Cherokees engaged in their own war for freedom. This film portrays a loyalist’s experience in the American Revolution— a perspective rarely seen in any drama.”
Each year, Sycamore Shoals State Park hosts re-enactments of the siege of Watauga, which relives a significant episode in the Cherokee War of 1776.
Writer/Director Nadia Dean will host screenings at the park of her 36-minute docudrama and says, “Audiences will be intrigued by this story that reveals hidden truths of a frontier war that became a defining moment in American history.”
