React Mobile Joins Businesses Ending Slavery and Trafficking (BEST) Employers Alliance to Help Drive Behavioral Change
First Nationwide Public/Private Partnership to Work Across Industries to Prevent Sex Trafficking and Sex Buying

/EINPresswire.com/ -- SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 03/21/16 -- React Mobile, a leader in personal safety, today announced that the company has joined the BEST Employers Alliance, a key project of Businesses Ending Slavery and Sex Trafficking, aligning and equipping leaders to use the power of business to prevent human trafficking. The Alliance is supporting participating employers such as React Mobile to adopt appropriate policies protecting their businesses from the risks posed by sexual exploiters.
BEST notes that technology has historically been linked with facilitating sex trafficking. Traffickers use websites, social media, apps, and networks to attract, groom and promote their victims. In King County, the highest percentages of men arrested for buying sex from underage girls were employed in technology, along with transportation, manufacturing, and construction -- disproportionately compared to the number of employees in those sectors. Online sting ads show IP addresses linked to tech firms accessing the sex-buying sites. Many of those soliciting sex online are browsing these websites from their places of work, during the workday, and with one of the 'peak times' being 2 p.m.
"Leading technology companies such as React Mobile understand that these emerging trends are putting their reputations at risk," said Catherine Manney, Program Manager, BEST. "Robb recognizes the synergy between our missions to promote safety and I'm looking forward to collaborating with him on key issues such as online best practices and trafficking prevention and employee education."
The React Sidekick is a personal panic button that can be used to quickly and remotely activate a widespread emergency alert without the need to find, unlock and dial from a phone that may be out of reach. The React Sidekick pairs with the free React Mobile safety app to provide peace of mind and is the fastest way to reach a wide network when it matters most.
"The BEST Employers Alliance is directly connected with our focus on technology innovation to improve safety," says Robb Monkman, CEO, React Mobile. "As technology leaders, we have an obligation to openly discuss important issues such as slavery and trafficking and create initiatives to help eliminate online sexual exploitation."
The React Mobile safety app is completely free to download and is a simple yet powerful way to enhance personal safety. Users can easily activate React Mobile's "Follow-Me" location sharing service and rest assured that people in their emergency network are tracking they're whereabouts in real-time whenever they're concerned about safety. When the Sidekick is activated, friends and family will receive a "Help Me" alert text message and email that includes a link to the users GPS location. Users can also choose to automatically post their alerts to Facebook and Twitter to let an even wider network of contacts know where they are and that they need help.
