USHCC Calls on Senate to Confirm U.S. Ambassador to Mexico

/EINPresswire.com/ -- WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - March 08, 2016) - On Thursday, March 3, the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), along with a bipartisan coalition of Senators, held a press conference at the U.S. Capitol to advocate for the confirmation of Roberta Jacobson as the next U.S. Ambassador to Mexico. The USHCC was joined by Senators Udall (D-NM), Flake (R-AZ), Heinrich (D-NM), and Klobuchar (D-MN).

Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Roberta Jacobson has been waiting nine months to be confirmed for this post. Mexico is the third largest trading partner to the United States, accounting for more than $500 billion dollars in bilateral trade.

"In this bipartisan collaboration, Senators Udall, Flake, Heinrich, and Klobuchar demonstrated what our country needs most -- we sorely need our legislators to work together, putting politics aside to reach across the aisle for the sake of the common good," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez. "On behalf of our 200 chambers across the country, and our 4.1 million Hispanic businesses, we thank you for your leadership in this matter. We are hopeful that Roberta will soon be confirmed as U.S. Ambassador to Mexico."
