MSG Networks Announces Two-Day Celebration of Martin Brodeur

MSG and MSG+ to Air Jersey Retirement Ceremony Coverage Live Tuesday, February 9 Beginning at 6pm

Programming Marathon Featuring Some of Brodeur’s Career Highlights Kicks Off Monday, February 8 at 2pm

NEW YORK, Feb. 03, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MSG Networks (NYSE:MSGN) announced today a special two-day celebration, presented by Barnabas Health, dedicated to New Jersey Devils legend Martin Brodeur that will lead to his jersey retirement ceremony on Tuesday, February 9 at the Prudential Center when the Devils host the Edmonton Oilers.

Beginning on Monday, February 8 at 2:00 pm, MSG+ will telecast some of Brodeur’s greatest moments. The lineup will include two-hour versions of milestone games from the goalkeeper’s esteemed career, including Brodeur’s 100th, 200th, 300th and 400th career wins. During the Devils’ pregame show on MSG+ on Monday at 6:30 pm prior to the Devils / Rangers game, Brodeur will be interviewed live after the unveiling of his statue, “The Salute,” at the Prudential Center by MSG analyst and his former Stanley Cup winning teammate, John MacLean.

On Tuesday, February 9, MSG+ will feature a full day of Martin Brodeur programming including his 500th, 551st and 552nd wins. Also included is his clinching game from his record 48 win season and a special feature on Brodeur’s 552nd win, which moved him to the top of the National Hockey League’s career wins list.

Premiering at 5:30 pm on Tuesday on MSG and MSG+ will be “MSG Countdown: ’16 Martin Brodeur,” hosted by MSG Networks’ Devils reporter Deb Placey, and MSG analyst and Brodeur’s friend and former teammate, Ken Daneyko.

MSG Networks will telecast the ceremony for the retirement of Brodeur’s No. 30 Devils jersey live on Tuesday, February 9 on both MSG and MSG+ beginning at 6:00 pm. Featured on the coverage of the ceremony will be Daneyko and MacLean and former Devils announcer, Mike “Doc” Emrick, will be the master of ceremonies for the retirement ceremony. The evening will be hosted by Placey and Daneyko, along with long-time New Jersey Devils play-by-play announcer Steve Cangialosi and MacLean.

Following the ceremony, Visa Devils Game Night will air on MSG+ as a regularly scheduled half hour show at 7:30 pm, with puck drop for the New Jersey / Edmonton game just after 8:00 pm.

Martin Brodeur was selected by the Devils in the first round of the 1990 NHL Draft. Brodeur played his first NHL season with the Devils in 1993-1994. His dynamic performance on the ice during his first season earned him the Calder Memorial Trophy for Rookie of the Year. He won his first Stanley Cup with the Devils in 1995, and won twice more with the team in 2000 and 2003. As a goalkeeper he was awarded five William M. Jennings awards for goalkeeper with the fewest goals scored against him in the season, as well as four Vezina Trophies for best goalie in the NHL. Over the course of his career he played in 10 NHL All-Star games, and has an Olympic gold medal with Canada for his work in the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games.
