Club President Simon Longhurst leads a 100-strong team of volunteers and 50 ballkids to provide venue, court and player services to ensure that the event runs seamlessly. “Everyone from the club has worked so hard to make this happen. The City of Onkaparinga ATP Challenger runs from 2-10 January 2016 and is one of the Pro Tour opening events marking the start of the Australian Open Summer of Tennis. With a prize pool in excess of AUD$100,000 and valuable ranking points, a strong international field has been attracted to the tournament.
Players include Marinko Matosevic (AUS) former #39, Dudi Sela (ISR) former #29, Taylor Fritz (USA) #1 Junior, Marc Polmans (AUS) recent 18/u Australian Champion, Aleksandr Nedovyesov (KAZ), Bjorn Frantangelo (USA) and Alex Bolt (AUS).
South Australians will have the opportunity to watch the intense competition of world class tennis up close in person at the Happy Valley Tennis Club. Entry on weekdays 4-8 January is FREE, and tickets are available for a small charge at the gate for Semi-Finals on Saturday 9th and Finals on Sunday 10th.
