Marc Dennis Showcases New Paintings at a Christie's and US Trust Sponsored Breakfast During Art Basel Miami Beach
/EINPresswire.com/ -- NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - December 25, 2015) - Courtney and Karen Lord hosted a personal and intimate breakfast affair for collectors, curators and other art-related guests in their home in Miami Beach on December 2, 2015 for American artist, Marc Dennis as part of a unique experience during the famous Art Basel art fair.
Highly-esteemed American artist Marc Dennis showcased his paintings during Art Basel Miami Beach at a private breakfast at the home of Courtney and Karen Lord. The VIP event, organized by Casterline Goodman Gallery of Aspen, Colorado took place on December 2, 2015, and was sponsored by Christie's and US Trust, thanks in great part to Bob Dunkin, Senior Vice President, Private Client Advisor at US Trust Bank of America Private Wealth Management.
The intimate event was an exclusive opportunity for select guests to observe two of Dennis' more recent works. The first painting, titled "Life After," is a highly detailed image consisting of assorted species of pink, white, and red flowers assembled to look like a sculpture suggestive of the iconic shape of Mickey Mouse. Considering Dennis' interest and knowledge of art history and pop culture, this piece is also a indirect reference to Jeff Koons' large hedges and floral arrangements of puppies; as well as contemporary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami's depictions of pseudo Mickey Mouse heads. The painting was purchased by Beth Dewoody, a very prominent collector based in New York and Palm Beach.
A second work of art, titled "Three Jews Walk Into a Bar," depicts three young Orthodox Jewish men viewed from behind, standing in front of and looking intently at Édouard Manet's "A Bar at the Folies-Bergère." This painting is an iconic example of Dennis' aim to saturate his paintings with truths and suggestions about human behavior, ways of looking, and the psychological, spiritual and physical relationships we, as viewers, have with art.
Dennis' next upcoming solo exhibition at Casterline Goodman Gallery is scheduled to open on December 29
