Richview Animal Hospital Supports Local Area Charities This Holiday Season
ETOBICOKE, Ontario, Dec. 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Richview Animal Hospital in Etobicoke, Ontario, announces several charity efforts underway this holiday season. The clinic chose a local family to support and raised over $1000 for Christmas gifts. They also raised money to support World Animal Protection. World Animal Protection works to end the suffering of animals in a number of settings including shelters, in the wild and in communities throughout the world. Their work aims to provide stray dog management and prevent needless culling of dogs by world governments as an ineffective way of stopping the spread of rabies. In the wild, they work with governments and communities to stop bear baiting, stop the ghost fishing practices that threaten marine life and put an end to the bear bile industry.
According to Dr. Oliver Sterbinsky of Richview Animal Hospital, supporting local families was an easy decision to make. "During the holidays, our focus naturally turns outward. We ask ourselves, 'what can we do to improve the lives of others?' So supporting a family from our community with money for gifts, donated gift cards and children’s’ toys, reminds us that we are part an important part of our local community and we have made a commitment to have a positive impact on this community," stated Dr. Sterbinsky.
The veterinarian continued, "Then, looking further, we asked, 'how can we support an organization that has a global impact?' For us, World Animal Protection was a natural choice. I am currently a director on the board of the organization, and believe wholeheartedly in the work that they do. We were able to raise and donate over $600 to support their global efforts to protect animals in all types of situations. Most people do not have to think about what happens to animals in the case of a natural disaster, for example, but WAP does. They do so much good work around the world that we were happy to support their efforts."
In addition to the animal clinic's efforts to help a local family and support WAP, the staff will draw a client to win an iPad before Christmas. "This gift is a small way that we are using to show our deep appreciation for our clients this Christmas," said Dr. Sterbinsky. "Our clients choose to entrust us with the care of their beloved pets and it is a responsibility that we take very seriously. We work hard every day to be worthy of the trust they place in us by providing the best animal care we possibly can."
