Canadian Food Inspection Agency and EFSA enhance cooperation in risk assessment

EFSA and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) have agreed to enhance their scientific cooperation and dialogue related to risk assessment. Martine Dubuc, Vice-President of Science and Chief Food Safety Officer of CFIA, and Bernhard Url, Executive Director of EFSA, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on 14 December 2015 for an initial period of five years.

The future cooperation focuses on two main areas: the collection, analysis and sharing of technical data in risk assessment; and the sharing of views and expertise in the area of methodologies for data collection, risk assessment and risk communication.

Welcoming the agreement, Martine Dubuc said: “It confirms the need to engage at the world level. We need to exchange risk assessment data and information across the world for the benefit of the citizens.”
