Carlsbad Animal Hospital Conducts Annual Shelter Drive to Benefit Camp Pendleton

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 13, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Carlsbad Animal Hospital is holding its annual supply drive to benefit the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter from November 1, 2015, through January 31, 2016. The clinic will be collecting shelter supplies including cat and dog food, large and small animal crates, soft blankets, cat litter, pet carriers, treats, gently used toys, dog and cat beds, cat scratch posts and other supplies to support small animals in the shelter setting.

Camp Pendleton, a Marine Corps base located in Oceanside, California, runs an on-site animal shelter to serve the Marines and their families who live on the base. The shelter works to enforce base regulations regarding animal ownership and to protect animal owners as well as domestic animals on the base. The staff members of the base shelter work to protect animals from abuse and neglect, rescue sick and injured animals, as well as placing qualified animals into their adoption program.  Marines and their families who wish to adopt an animal can visit the shelter to adopt an animal who interacts well with the family members and their existing pets.

Dr. Rachel Kagan of Carlsbad Animal Hospital joins her colleagues Drs. Tom Livezey, Candace Runyan, Nicole Stanclift and Dennis Derieg in support of the Camp Pendleton program. "We are proud to do whatever we can to support the Marines in this mission," says Dr. Kagan. "The shelter provides a valuable service to the military families who live on and around the base. For the children of these families, the love and companionship provided by a pet is something they should not miss. When a family adopts a pet from the Camp Pendleton Animal Shelter they know that the animal has been well cared for. The shelter spays, neuters, vaccinates and microchips each animal before adoption."

Carlsbad Animal Hospital is a full-service animal hospital that provides surgical services as well as routine wellness care for its patients. The hospital's 4,000 square foot building has four exam rooms, two diagnostic laboratories and a fully equipped surgical suite. The clinic also has a special dental treatment room to care for patients as well as separate dog and cat kennel areas. The veterinarians of Carlsbad Animal Hospital are prepared to care for their patients through every stage of life.

Carlsbad Animal Hospital will collect donations now through January 31, 2016. To drop off supplies, visit the clinic during regular office hours from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturdays, and from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Sundays.
