Government of Canada Suspends Removals to Burundi

/EINPresswire.com/ -- OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 12/02/15 -- Canada Border Services Agency

Effective immediately, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has imposed an Administrative Deferral of Removals (ADR) to Burundi.

As a result of current country conditions, including government instability, rising levels of violence and food insecurity, the CBSA will be able to defer the removal of most Burundian nationals.

Foreign nationals who are inadmissible and subject to removal on grounds of criminality, international or human rights violations, organized crime, or security do not benefit from this stay of removal, and individuals who wish to depart voluntarily may continue to do so.

The CBSA will continue to monitor the country conditions in Burundi, and once conditions improve, a decision will be made on whether removals can be reinstated.
