Media Advisory: Major Expansion of Rental Housing Index to Be Launched
Data Examines Jobs of Renters & Affordability for Seniors, Parents, Aboriginal People and Youth
/EINPresswire.com/ -- VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - November 20, 2015) - The BC Non-Profit Housing Association will be launching a major BC expansion of their Rental Housing Index on Monday, November 23. The data will be formally presented to over 800 affordable housing providers and stakeholders at BC's Affordable Housing Conference in Richmond, BC at 12:15 p.m. PST.
The expanded dataset will, for the first time, look at the jobs of renters throughout BC and examine rental housing affordability issues faced by a range of demographic groups including seniors, single parents, immigrants and aboriginal peoples. In addition, in major BC cities, the Rental Housing Index will be expanded to provide neighborhood level data on housing affordability. At the regional level the index will also include projections on future housing need over the next 20 years.
All of the expanded data will be publically available on an easy to use interactive web-map developed using census data. The Index has become an important tool for housing planners, non-profit housing developers and all levels of government to help plan for future housing needs.
WHO: Tony Roy, Chief Executive Officer and Jill Atkey, Director of Education and Research, BC Non-Profit Housing Association will present the findings. Research sponsors Vancity credit union and David Hutniak, CEO of LandlordBC will also be speaking at the event.
