"We strongly condemn the recent attacks that have targeted visible and religious minorities in Canada as we have regrettably seen with the fire at the Kawartha Muslim Religious Association's mosque in Peterborough, the acts of vandalism at the Ram Dham Hindu Temple in Kitchener, and the cowardly attack on a Muslim woman in Toronto.

"As Canadians, we must denounce acts of violence that attempt to solve hate with hate.

"Diversity is Canada's strength. At a time like this, it is more important than ever to demonstrate to each other, and to the world, our values of pluralism and acceptance, as embodied in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

"The perpetrators of the violence in Paris must be brought to justice, not rewarded with a lessening of our commitments to tolerance, inclusion, and compassion.

"We call on all Canadians to stand together and face this challenge with resolve, with courage and with fortitude."
