Actor Jordan Johnson-Hinds Shines Bright on the Silver Screen in 2015
Canadian born actor Jordan Johnson-Hinds wraps production on the film "John Lives Again," and the second season of "Odd Squad" due for release in 2016.
LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, October 31, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Canadian actor Jordan Johnson-Hinds recently wrapped production on the upcoming film "John Lives Again" where he took on the leading role of Richard, a preppy hipster who aspires to become a successful comic book artist.Directed by Anthony Furey, "John Lives Again" is an offbeat romantic comedy that follows John, played by Randal Edwards ("Package Deal," "Degrassi: The Next Generation," "The Killing"), a man who's nearly 30-years-old and struggling to find love.
Over the course of the film John, who can't seem to get his act together and make the much needed transition into adulthood, repeatedly turns to his best friend Richard, played by Jordan Johnson-Hinds, in search of answers.
"I enjoyed playing Richard because, Anthony Furey, the director, really allowed me to be free with my improv and character development. And I love that," admits Johnson-Hinds. "Collaboration is key for me when working because I want nothing but the best for the director's vision."
The highly anticipated film, which is slated to be release in 2016, also stars Erin Agostino from the series "The Bitter End," "18 to Life" and "Supernatural," and Canadian Comedy Award winner Gavin Crawford from "24 Hour Rental," The Gavin Crawford Show" and "Hype."
"The moment Jordan started his audition for my film I knew he was the right actor for the part. He commits 100% to a role and delivers. The bonus is that he's a really great guy too and he brings a lot of positive energy to the set. Anyone who's worked with Jordan will tell you he's got that rare star quality; and I hope I get to work with him again in the future,” says "John Lives Again" director Anthony Furey.
Over the last few years Jordan Johnson-Hinds has reached an astonishing level of success, and his work in 2015 only further proves that he is on everyone's radar.
Johnson-Hinds is probably best known for his role as Jerry White from the award-winning 2014 film "RoboCop," and his recurring roles as Pete in the three-time Directors Guild of Canada Award winning TV series "The Best Laid Plans" and Kevin in the series "The L.A. Complex," which airs on The CW in the US and Much in Canada.
In addition to "John Lives Again," the actor also shot award-winning director Kire Paputts' ("Animal Control," "The Last Pogo Jumps Again") dramatic adventure film "The Rainbow Kid" earlier this year, which was chosen as an Official Selection of the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, as well as an episode of the popular two-time Gemini Award winning series "Murdoch Mysteries" where he guest stars as Nate Desmond.
Set in the 1890s, Johnson-Hinds plays the love interest of Rebecca James, who is played by Mouna Traore ("Carrie," "Hemlock Grove," "Rookie Blue") in episode 13 of season 9, which will air on CBC in 2016.
Johnson-Hinds, who admits that his character's wardrobe in the show was immensely helpful in transplanting him back in time and helped add to his performance, confides that there is a chance of Nate Desmond recurring in the following season.
Over the course of his career he has also guest starred on several other high-profile television shows including "Saving Hope," "The Listener," "Beauty and the Beast," "Rookie Blue," "Flashpoint" and "Life with Derek" to name a few.
Besides being an exceedingly talented and dynamic actor, Jordan Jonson-Hinds is incredibly good looking, which definitely hasn't hurt his career. With a South American father, a Jamaican mother and a Greek grandfather, the actor's multi-ethnic heritage has endowed him with a look that allows him to naturally take on a range of characters from all over the world.
In addition to "The Rainbow Kid," the upcoming film "John Lives Again" and "Murdoch Mysteries," viewers can currently catch Jordan Johnson-Hinds on the second season of the two-time Daytime Emmy Award winning TV series "Odd Squad," which is broadcast on CBS and PBS.
In the series, Johnson-Hinds plays the recurring role of Ronny, a dimwitted man who constantly finds himself in odd situations and is forced to call on Olive and Otto, the show's investigators who use math to solve problems.
Geared towards children age five to eight, Johnson-Hinds' role on "Odd Squad" is definitely different than most of his past roles, but the actor admits that there is something special about performing for younger audiences.
"I really enjoy playing Ronny on the show… When I got a phone call from my sister telling me my little 5-year-old nephew saw uncle Jordan on TV while he was getting ready for school it made me feel like I was doing something right, and I can be the right role model to my little cousins when they choose their career later on down the path."
