The Observatory invites the public to celebrate Nuclear Science Week


/EINPresswire.com/ -- CALGARY, AB--(Marketwired - October 20, 2015) - Nuclear Science Week will be celebrated at the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory (RAO). Members of the public can learn more about nuclear physics and quark stars, get a fresh take on the periodic table, and explore the uses of radiation in medicine. A free public lecture will be offered explaining why nuclear science research is critical to Canada’s future.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to look through the RAO’s telescopes (weather-permitting), with astronomers on hand to answer questions.

Nuclear Science Week is a broadly observed, week-long celebration to focus international interest on all aspects of nuclear science. This year marks the first annual celebration of Nuclear Science Week in Canada.
