The conference awards recognize outstanding women in the STEM fields, provide opportunities for professional development, networking and recruiting, and promote the increased involvement of women and ethnic minority groups in STEM careers by highlighting the success of others.

Fu, an industry systems engineer in Northrop Grumman's Information Systems sector, received a Technical Innovation award. Since joining Northrop Grumman in 2009, she has supported a variety of internal research and development projects as well as intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance programs designing, developing and verifying algorithms for communication systems. She is a member of a Northrop Grumman diversity and inclusion board. Fu has authored three technical publications on digital communications. She earned her bachelor's, master's and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Vijayasarathi received a Special Recognition award. She is a manager in Northrop Grumman's Information Systems sector. Since joining the company in 2002, she has worked as a developer, solutions architect and manager. She manages a large group of professionals and is the chief engineer and architect for a civilian agency customer. Her team provides architectural direction, participates in the selection of tools, technology and vendors, and ensures compliance with schedule, cost and technical guidelines. She earned her master's degree in science and technology development at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India.
