Europe and Eurasia: Assistant Secretary Nuland Travels to Madrid, Ankara, and Athens
Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland will join Secretary Kerry October 18-19 in Madrid, Spain, where he will meet with King Felipe VI, President Rajoy, and Foreign Minister Garcia-Margallo to discuss a range of bilateral and global issues.
She will then travel on October 19 to Ankara, Turkey to meet with senior Turkish government officials to discuss counter-ISIL coalition efforts, the refugee crisis and other regional and bilateral issues. In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Ankara, she will also underscore our solidarity in the face of the security threats Turkey faces.
The following day the Assistant Secretary will travel to Athens, Greece, where she will meet with senior Greek government officials to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues, including economic reforms, the refugee crisis, and energy diversification.
