Nine Large Companies Take the 100% Renewable Energy Pledge

October 2015 - Nine US corporations have agreed to pursue 100 percent renewable electricity use. Goldman Sachs, Johnson & Johnson, Nike, Procter & Gamble, Salesforce, Starbucks, Steelcase, Voya Financial, and Walmart have made the "RE100 pledge," an initiative organized by the Climate Group (an international non-profit group). The RE100 pledge is non-binding, but encourages companies to commit to 100 percent renewable electricity use and release information about their sustainability efforts with specific targets and benchmarks. For instance, Voya International has committed to 100 percent renewable energy by 2015, while Goldman Sachs and Nike seek to reach the same goal by 2020 and 2025, respectively. The nine companies join 27 other companies that have made the RE100 pledge since 2014.
