Three New York Ski Resorts Sign 25-Year Contracts with Borrego Solar

August 2015 - The Belleayre Ski Center, Gore Mountain Ski Resort, and Whiteface Mountain ski resorts in New York have signed power purchase agreements (PPA) with Borrego Solar to use solar energy to power their ski lifts and snowmaking operations. Borrego estimates that the PPA will save Gore Mountain Ski Resort approximately $213,000 in the initial year, with the potential for as much as $14 million in electricity bill savings for all three ski resorts over the 25-year contract period. Belleayre Ski Center aims to run their operations on 100 percent solar energy by March 2016, Gore Mountain Ski Resort aims for 85 percent, and Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort aims for close to 40 percent.
