When my wife and I learned that we were expecting our third child in early October, we were thrilled. As usual, one of the first questions we considered was whether we wanted to know the baby's gender, and if so, how we would want to find out. We decided that we did, in fact, want to know and began thinking of creative ways to solve the "boy or girl?" mystery... that would top our previous colored-balloons-in-a-box reveal.

We have long loved Coca-Cola, both of us sharing a passion for an ice-cold Coke in a glass contour bottle, and I had recently learned that I would be interning with Coca-Cola for the summer. When we heard from a friend that personalized #ShareACoke bottles could be purchased online, we immediately knew we wanted to use them for our reveal. We wanted to be surrounded by family when we learned our baby’s gender, and our annual family gathering in Destin, Fla. provided the perfect opportunity to share this special moment with them.

We asked our doctor to write our baby’s gender on a card and seal it in an envelope. I then ordered personalized #ShareACoke bottles with the names of each person in our immediate family and two additional bottles, one labeled “Baby Boy” and the other labelled “Baby Girl.”

We brought the envelope and personalized bottles with us on our family vacation, and gave them to my mother. As we asked members of our family for their predictions and their ideas for names, my mother set the appropriate bottles (with labels facing inward) in an ice bucket on the porch. The entire family gathered outside to watch as she rotated each bottle to reveal the names of each person in our family, finishing with a bottle reading... “Baby Girl.”

I have shared this story with people I've met during my internship, and many have responded with an amazing story of their own. Two things have been striking: First, the love people have for Coca-Cola runs extremely deep. And second, the special moments Coca-Cola has been a part of in people’s lives are many, diverse and cherished.
