After Becoming a Mother, Actress Olga Konstantulakis Prepares to Embark on Many New Projects

Actress Olga Konstantulakis is proof that in addition to bringing unfathomable joy, motherhood can also spark a creative renaissance!

LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, June 17, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Actress Olga Konstantulakis, who took a short break from the spotlight in order to focus on starting a family, is back on everyone's minds since announcing two new and exciting projects set to commence in Hollywood over the next year and a half.

The first project is an upcoming series entitled "Mount Sinai" that Konstantulakis developed with Rita Rani Ahuja ("Sleeper Cell," "Peep World," "Steven Universe," "The Way We Weren't," "Bombay Skies," "Trade Offs," "American Addiction"), which will be produced by Malabar Hill Films and is said to be a cross between “Six Feet Under” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”

The series will follow a palliative care doctor who brings compassion and comfort to the lives of those around her; but in her personal life, she struggles to find love and meaning. In addition to being one of the creative geniuses behind the series, Konstantulakis will also play the lead role.

"I've been fortunate enough to be associated with Olga… We've been on the creative and human journey together for a while, and through each project, I've always been amazed by her intense artistry and untainted humanness," explains co-creator Rita Rani Ahuja.

"In my view, this combination is what makes Olga the great artist and creator that she is. She brings the perfect melding of the two, to each project. It's why I'm so excited about 'Mount Sinai.' Having Olga as the creator and lead is what will make this piece of work so unique and special."

Konstantulakis's other upcoming project is a one-woman show entitled "Wildly Human," which is projected to begin running in Los Angeles in 2016. An ambitious production inspired by her experience with becoming a mother and discovering her voice as a parent, Konstantulakis began writing "Wildly Human" three years ago while she was pregnant with her first child Pericles.

About creating the project Konstantulakis admits, "It’s been both, the hardest and most rewarding journey imaginable. When you’re working on autobiographical material, especially a one-person show, there’s no filter of any kind. It’s quite terrifying to put oneself out there and be completely exposed emotionally. "

Konstantulakis has been putting the final touches on "Wildly Human" with the help of Daisy White ("Queen of the Lot," "Our Fathers," "Balkan Runner," "Violated," "Silent Madness") who has been assisting with direction.

The actress admits that after all of the self-exploration and unrestrained honesty that went into creating "Wildly Human," taking on character roles seems easy. Aside from being the creative fountainhead that led her to create this highly anticipated production, motherhood has also had a permeating affect on Konstantulakis's approach to acting.

She explains, "Motherhood has redefined the way I see myself and my value as a person. I'm no longer the center of my universe-- they are, which is quite liberating... It doesn't mean I care less or that I'm not as ambitious, actually I feel a bigger drive towards my work than ever, it simply means I take myself less seriously… Being a mother has freed me up to be more playful in my work and less judgmental, which has been a huge gift."

Originally from Montreal, Canada Olga Konstantulakis has known since childhood that she was destined to become an actress. While she has undoubtedly made her name known to international audiences through her on screen performances, for Konstantulakis, theatre is the beating heart of performance art.

The actress has created a dazzling reputation on the stage over the last decade giving knockout performances in the productions of "Bury the Dead," "The Stronger," "Modigliani," "Beast on the Moon," Miss Julie," The Importance of Being Earnest," "American Ten," "The Ride Down Mt. Morgan" and others.

Konstantulakis received rave reviews from Backstage for her performance as Seta in the production of "Beast on the Moon" at the Marilyn Monroe Theatre, Lee Strasberg Creative Center.

The actress fully exposed her vulnerable side in her emotional portrayal of Seta, an orphaned survivor of the Armenian genocide, who becomes a mail order bride and immigrates to America to live with her new husband Aram Tomasia, a photographer who also survived the genocide. While the two characters try to start a family their dreams prove impossible, however, despite the difficulties, Seta's positivity remains resilient.

"Her optimism and view on life despite the horrors she survives made it pure joy to inhabit her night after night," admits Konstantulakis about playing Seta. "Everyone needs a Seta in their life, that’s how beautifully optimistic and loving a character she is."

Konstantulakis also played the role of Aida in Laura Sands' film "Night Bloom," Jamie Jefferson in Jason J. Gray's film "Amulett" and Lola in the series "Slanted" created by Cristina Anderlini and Andrea Lwin.

While there's no doubt about Olga Konstantulakis's dedication as a serious performer with diverse talents, it doesn't hurt that she is captivatingly beautiful. In fact, her look backed by her talent has made her a sought after face for a long list of national commercials for companies that include Amazon, MasterCard, Curves, Sunsweet D’noir, MSNBC, Liberty Mutual, Abbvie Pharmaceuticals, Overstock.com, Walgreen’s, Xcel Energy, Bright House Networks, Be The Match.org, Optimum Cable, Oasis Legal Finance, Kashi, Nikon and many more.

With a long history of successful credits already under her belt, and two more exciting projects on the horizon, Olga Konstantulakis has proven that her capacity as a performer only grows as time goes on. Even more importantly, she has shown that motherhood can actually be an incredibly eye-opening and inspirational experience that adds new dimensions to one's perspective as both a person and performer.
