June 2015 - Amazon Web Service (AWS) and Community Energy have agreed to support the construction and operation of an 80-megawatt (MW) solar farm in Accomack County, Virginia. The solar project, named "Amazon Solar Farm U.S. East," will be built and operated by Community Energy with Amazon purchasing the generated solar power through a long-term power purchase agreement. The project is anticipated to generate approximately 170,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of solar power per year which will supply both current and future AWS Cloud datacenters. The integration of this project will go towards Amazon's commitment of 100 percent renewable energy for AWS, and the goal to use 40 percent clean energy for AWS by 2016.
