Spotlight on Energy Hustings Boasts Five Political Parties
The line-up of parliamentary candidates at the Spotlight on Energy hustings event, to be held on the morning of 22 April in Aberdeen, from 7.30am, now includes representatives from five key parties, Oil & Gas UK has announced.
Dan Yeats, the Scottish Green Party’s candidate for Aberdeen South, joins Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Danny Alexander; Dame Anne Begg, Labour candidate for Aberdeen South; Conservative candidate for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, Alexander Burnett; Alex Salmond, MSP for Aberdeenshire East and SNP candidate for Gordon.
Trisha O’Reilly, Oil & Gas UK’s communications director who will chair the event, commented: “We are pleased to announce a broad panel of parliamentary candidates at the hustings with representatives from the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, Scottish Greens and Scottish National Party.
“The candidates’ views on the role that oil and gas will play in the country’s future energy mix and economy will be of great interest to the assembled audience and the wider industry workforce and stakeholders. The business environment is severely challenging the UK oil and gas industry’s international competitiveness and its ability to attract investment so the support each party can offer the sector, if elected, will no doubt be a focus of the debate.”
Questions from the audience will be taken at the event or can be submitted in advance to communications@oilandgasuk.co.uk. Space within Oil & Gas UK’s offices is limited so please book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
A very limited number of places for members and non-members are available, and can be booked online here.
