API-Michigan Hires Katharine Hoeksema to join effort on growing energy priorities in state
“Katharine will focus on energy priorities in the state, including hydraulic fracturing and fostering smart regulations and fiscal policies to create jobs for Michiganders and generate more opportunities for enormous economic benefits for the state,” said Executive Director of the Associated Petroleum Industries of Michigan (API-Michigan) John Griffin. “The oil and natural gas industry in Michigan supports business activity across the state, including more than 180,000 jobs, and contributes more than 15 billion dollars to Michigan’s economy. We are looking forward to growing outreach efforts in Michigan on behalf of the oil and natural gas industry.”
A Michigan native, Hoeksema most recently served in Michigan’s House Republican Policy Office as natural resources, tourism, and environmental policy advisor and associate legal counsel. Previously, she served in the U.S. District Court’s Eastern District and with the Department of Environmental Quality in Lansing, Michigan. Hoeksema earned her Bachelor of Arts from Kalamazoo College and her Juris Doctorate from Vermont Law School and is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.
API-Michigan is a division of API, which represents all segments of America’s oil and natural gas industry. Its more than 625 members produce, process, and distribute most of the nation’s energy. The industry also supports 9.8 million U.S. jobs and 8 percent of the U.S. economy.
