Santa Anita Winner’s Circle Announces Kids’ BBQ Challenge

ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, February 23, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Featuring the West Coast’s best barbeque, the 4th Annual Winners’ Circle BBQ Championship, will be held on Saturday, March 21st in California at beautiful Santa Anita Park located at 285 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, CA 91007. This is not just another day at the races; the top Pit Masters from all across the United States, will compete for $15,000, a California State Championship title and the chance to represent California at International BBQ Contests.

You’ve seen these “masters of meat” on The Food Network, TLC, and BBQ Pit Masters. But instead of drooling at the screen you can come out and taste these delectable treats, which are cooked over fire for hours. At a place known for speed these masters of smoke, these saucy culinary crafters, practice the art of slow smoking so that you can taste the best of their competitive labor.

When the gates open to the public at 10:30 am, the air will be filled with the sweet smells of hickory and pecan woods and of slow-smoked beef, pork and chicken. Bring all of your senses to life as you wander among the teams – see, smell, and taste mouthwatering barbecue! Meet and greet over 80 participating teams, visit “Rib Row” and maybe pick up a tip or two. Also, new this year is a Kid’s Q competition!

Live music will be jamming throughout the day, while you relax with hot barbeque and a cold refreshing beverage. Arts and crafts, an expansive kid’s experience, and pony rides will be available for children. And, if that is not enough, live horse racing starts at 12:30pm.

The Santa Anita Winners’ Circle BBQ Championship offers free parking, when entering from Gate 6. Adult Admission to the event is $5, and includes access to Santa Anita’s majestic grandstands, children are free with paid adult. Tasting tickets are only $1.00 each, sold in packs of ten. COMPETITIONS:
KID’S Q COMPETITION: The 4th Annual Santa Anita Winner’s Circle BBQ Championship (SAWC) announced a new Winner’s Circle KidsQ contest for 2015. Held in parallel with the State BBQ Championship on Saturday, March 21st, the KidsQ will be a head-to-head BBQ grill off in two age groups: 6-10 and 11-15.

To make sure that this is truly a kids competition, officials stress that while each contestant will have one adult assistant, the child contestant must perform the majority of all work including: seasoning, marinating, tending, preparing, and turning in entries. The SAWC does encourage special needs children to enter and will make appropriate accommodations before the event begins.

To encourage support from friends, there will be multiple kid-friendly activities available at Santa Anita Park including: bounce houses, face painting, and pony rides.

This is a sanctioned Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) event and the judging of KidsQ entries will be on their standards and weighting factors for appearance, taste, and tenderness. The Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) competition at #SAWC4 is the first California State Championship event scheduled for 2015. #SAWC4 is a KCBS sanctioned four meat Championship Series event. It will be a Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue (draw) and American Royal Invitational Qualifier, as well as a Team of the Year (ToY) event for both KCBS and the California BBQ Association (CBBQA).
