January 2015 - Duke Energy has signed 20-year agreements to purchase up to 20 megawatts (MW) of solar power from three solar energy companies in Indiana. The developers will install and operate four solar panel projects with each generating approximately five MW. The projects in Clay, Howard and Vigo counties are expected to be operational by the end of 2015. The project in Sullivan County is expected to provide clean energy by March 2016. The company has filed a request with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to approve the project. If approved and completed, Indiana customers will have the option to buy local solar power to offset their energy use.
