The U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) recently issued new guidance that requires small wind turbines, defined as having a nameplate capacity of up to 100 kilowatts, to be certified in order to qualify for the 30% federal Investment Tax Credit. Notice 2015-4 outlines the required turbine performance and quality standards, which the wind industry has long supported as a way to aid small wind consumers.
