Boeing 737 Factory to Use 100% Renewable Energy

January 2015 - Boeing announced a plan to purchase renewable energy certificates (RECs) to replace fossil-fuel energy at a Washington factory where it assembles 737 jetliners.Through an agreement with Puget Sound Energy, the 737 manufacturing site will be powered entirely by renewable energy. The Renton facility will receive 50 percent hydroelectric power and 50 percent wind power from the Wild Horse Wind Facility near Ellensburg. Boeing currently builds 42 planes a month at the Renton site, which includes about 4.3 million square feet of building space.
