API welcomes pathway of bipartisan Keystone XL bill to president’s desk

WASHINGTON, November 12, 2014 ─ API President and CEO Jack Gerard welcomed the Senate’s bipartisan decision to create a pathway for final Keystone XL pipeline approval.

“American voters will finally be heard with tomorrow’s Congressional action to move forward on Keystone XL," said Gerard. "This project will help better deliver the energy consumers demand, generate thousands of jobs, and strengthen our energy security.

“President Obama can demonstrate leadership when it comes to creating jobs by signing this bill. This is a vote for American workers, including those in the labor community who have long called for the president’s support.”

API represents all segments of America’s oil and natural gas industry. Its more than 600 members produce, process, and distribute most of the nation’s energy. The industry also supports 9.8 million U.S. jobs and 8 percent of the U.S. economy.
