Community Solar Park Begins Producing Power In Newark,NJ
November 2014 - McKees Solar Park, a 230-kW solar farm, has begun providing Newark, New Jersey's electric users with locally produced green energy. The 900-panel solar array was constructed on a 3.91 acre brownfield site. The solar array is expected to produce up to 220 MW a year and generate power enough to supply 26 to 36 homes. Citizens can contribute by a one-time investment of $50 in return for a monthly rebate of $1.00 and have the opportunity to purchase one 100 kWh block of power generated from the McKees Solar Park each month for ten years.
