November 18 PSERC Webinar: Quantifying and Mitigating the Impacts of PV in Distribution Systems

High penetrations of photovoltaic (PV) systems impact distribution system operations in a number of ways, spanning voltage and other power quality, resistive losses, requirements for transformer bank and conductor capacity, reverse power flow and protection equipment operation and transformer aging.

The DOE-funded Power Systems Engineering Research Center (PSERC) is offering a free public webinar presenting a simulation-based investigation of these impacts and discussing a new approach for volt-VAR optimization with reactive power capabilities of PV inverters. This approach is decentralized and model-free but identifies optimal setpoints for inverter reactive power across a variety of objective functions.

The webinar will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 2-3 p.m. ET. No pre-registration is necessary.

For more information and details on logging into the webinar, please see the announcement (PDF) or visit PSERC's website.
