PotashCorp Rings NYSE Closing Bell to Celebrate 25 Years
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Tomorrow Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) will mark its 25th anniversary by ringing the Closing Bell at the New York Stock Exchange. Five employees, selected as part of a company-wide contest, will share in commemorating this significant achievement.
“Throughout 2014 we have celebrated how PotashCorp has played an important role in nourishing human potential,” said Denita Stann, Vice President of Investor and Public Relations. “We are delighted to share this quarter-century milestone with five amazing employees from across our company.”
Since becoming a publicly listed company on November 2, 1989, PotashCorp has grown significantly. In 1989, the Canadian company sold 4 million tonnes of product – all potash. Between 1995 and 1997, a series of acquisitions helped the company bring together world-class assets in all three primary crop nutrients.
By 2013, PotashCorp sold nearly 20 million tonnes of potash, nitrogen and phosphate products transported to approximately 40 countries around the world. This 25-year period also saw the number of company employees increase from 1,200 to more than 5,000 people today, and the total shareholder return to exceed 6,200 percent.

“As a new employee, this has been a terrific year to work at PotashCorp,” said legal assistant Taya Tokarski – one of the local contest winners. “I’ve learned so much about the company’s history through the 25th anniversary videos and stories and now I’m going to New York City for the first time to experience the bell ringing!”
As the world’s largest crop nutrient company, PotashCorp plays an integral role in global food production. The company produces the three essential nutrients required to help farmers grow healthier, more abundant crops. With global populations rising and diets improving in developing countries, crop nutrients such as potash, phosphates and nitrogen offer a responsible and practical solution to help produce the food we need, from the land we have.
