LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, September 28, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Staking her claim as one of the film industry's hottest young talents, Canadian actress Helena-Alexis Seymour, one of the stars of HBO’s hit cop drama "The Line," just finished production on the new film "Corrupt," which is scheduled for release in early 2015.Just like a thrilling murder mystery should be, "Corrupt" is chalk full of unpredictable twists and turns that are sure to keep audiences guessing ‘who’s done it’ the whole way through.
The film follows Kate MacIntyre, played by Nicole de Boer who is known for her roles in "Stephen King’s Dead Zone" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," and Jessica Hall, played by Helena-Alexis Seymour, as they leave no stone unturned in an exciting hunt for the elusive culprit of corruption on which the film is based.
“Helena-Alexis has been one of the bright lights out of the Ottawa acting scene. We specifically selected her for her exceptional ability to bring out what is needed in a character that was integral to the transitional portions of the film,” explained the film’s producer Donald Osborne.
“Projects such as 'Corrupt' rely upon the skills of the actors to convey the intensity of the scene and bring needed drama to the character in order to raise the level of the film, something Helena-Alexis easily accomplished.”
Aside from "Corrupt," Osborne, who is the principal owner of Canada-based production company Zed Filmworks Inc., has produced the films "Smash Cut," "Stripped Naked," "Sacrifice," "My Mother’s Secret," "Fugitive at 17," "A Nanny’s Revenge," "The Perfect Boss," and more.
In addition to putting her poised skill as a dramatic actress on display, Ms. Seymour also proves her agility and knack for action in the film "Corrupt," in which she undertook the challenge of doing her own stunts.
“I really loved filming this movie because my character, Jessica, was so dynamic, and also because I was able to do my own stunts in the film, for example, in one of the scenes I get hit by a car,” explained Helena-Alexis Seymour. “Aside from being a total adrenaline rush, the experience also showed me that I am capable of doing stunt work, something I would like to continue to pursue in the future.”
While she is most widely known throughout the entertainment industry for her role in the HBO series "The Line," Helena-Alexis Seymour clearly has a look that both film and television casting directors are looking for to fulfill a variety of roles.
A diverse actress with a long list of credits to prove it, Ms. Seymour’s film work includes "The Last Casino," which received two Gemini Awards as well as a Gold Medal at the New York International Film and TV Festival, "Rulers of Darkness," which received the Golden Reel Award at the Canada International Film Festival, "The Husband She Met Online," "Killing Daddy," "Girl’s Best Friend," "Donkey," and many more.
She has also been in several highly acclaimed television shows, including Syfy’s "Being Human," which received two Gemini Awards, a Canadian Writers Guild Award and an ASCAP Film and Television Music Award, as well as the Emmy nominated series "Warehouse 13," "Blue Mountain State," "The Ron James Show," and the TV mini-series "The Best Laid Plans."
Be sure to keep your eyes out for Helene-Alexis in the film "Corrupt," as well as "Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)" which was directed by multi-award winner Alejandro González Iñárritu and is scheduled to be released October 11.
