Wind Energy Center at the 2014 Minnesota State Fair
Date: 9/1/2014
From August 21–September 1, 2014, Windustry presented the Wind Energy Center at the Minnesota State Fair for the ninth consecutive year. The Wind Energy Center is a popular, museum-quality display within the Eco Experience, a unique project of the Minnesota State Fair and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency designed to educate Minnesotans about environmental stewardship. Over the course of the 12 days of the State Fair, approximately 350,000 people visited the Eco Experience.
The Wind Energy Center display included a commercial-scale turbine blade installed on the ground and reaching a height of 123 feet. A replica tower base served as a walk-in educational center where visitors could browse Windustry's Small Wind Toolbox and learn about net metering through an interactive light board. Minnesota's wind resources were on display in a seven-foot-tall map of the 80-meter wind speed and an interactive, computer-based geographic information system provided detailed information on existing wind projects in the state.
