Logan was found unresponsive in his home in LaGrange, Ohio on May 27, 2014. The county coroner initially determined his death a result of natural causes. Upon further testing he determined that Logan had 70 micrograms of caffeine per millimeter of blood in his system, 23 times more than an average coffee drinker. His death stemmed from the use of caffeine powder, an unregulated dietary supplement.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has launched an investigation on the caffeine powder and is considering regulatory action.

Mr. Balser is investigating the circumstances around Logan Stiner’s death, and will take appropriate legal action against those companies that marketed, manufactured or distributed the caffeine powder responsible for his death. He also hopes this case will help educate the public on the danger of caffeine powder, and ultimately encourage the FDA to continue to investigate and subsequently ban the substance.
