FuelCell Energy Partners with United Illuminating Company to Deliver 5.6 MW Fuel Cell Power Plants
July 2014 - FuelCell Energy, Inc., a provider of clean base load distributed generation, identified New Haven, Connecticut, as the second installation site for a 2.8-megawatt (MW) fuel cell power plant purchased by The United Illuminating Company (UI), a regional electric distribution company for southern Connecticut. The other 2.8-MW fuel cell power plant will be located in Bridgeport, CT. In aggregate, the New Haven and Bridgeport fuel cell plants are adequate to power approximately 5,600 homes. FuelCell Energy plans to install, operate, and maintain the power plants under long-term service agreements. Both sites are expected to be operational in early 2015.
