Green Power EMC to Purchase Additional 20 MW of Georgia Solar Power
July 2014 - Green Power EMC, the renewable energy supplier for 38 Georgia Electric Membership Corporations, will purchase the output of a ground-mounted 20-megawatt (MW) solar array for a 25-year period. The solar array will be constructed near Hazlehurst, GA, by Silicon Ranch Corporation, the Tennessee-based owner-operator. Once completed, the solar array will generate more than 43,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable electricity annually. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2014 and the facility will be ready to produce electricity by the end of 2015. Additionally, the Hazlehurst project will nearly double the total renewable capacity of Green Power EMC from 32 MW to about 52 MW.
