684 kW Solar Array Expected to Generate 1.16 million kWh of Electricity in CO in Summer 2014

In the Spring of 2014, Clean Energy Collective, a Carbondale, CO -based solar developer, began construction of two new community-owned solar facilities totaling 684 kilowatts (kW) in installed capacity in Golden. The new facilities will serve Xcel Energy customers residing in Jefferson County, CO. The solar arrays are expected to generate 1.16 million kWh of electricity during their first year of operation, which is enough electricity to power 100 homes. The community solar program participant will be able to purchase individual panels in the shared arrays, from one kW up to enough panels to offset 120% of their electricity usage. The construction on the arrays is scheduled to be completed in the Summer of 2014. After taking into account available rebates and tax incentives, the price per watt will be $3.70.
