REACH and Partners Celebrate PotashCorp's Investment in Food Programming for Regina Children

Regina, Saskatchewan – Today Regina Education and Action on Child Hunger (REACH) held an event at Coronation Park School to celebrate PotashCorp’s support of food initiatives for vulnerable youth. Throughout the past year, the company has committed a total of $295,000 to various agencies to combat food insecurity in Regina’s communities.

“Each of the agencies here today has partnered with PotashCorp to support their programming,” said Dana Folkerson, Executive Director of REACH. “Today, we just want to publicly acknowledge that support and give thanks to PotashCorp for their belief in each of us and their support of our efforts.”

The company’s support includes:

  • $50,000 to support REACH in the Parks summer lunch program
  • $45,000 to the Salvation Army’s Coronation Park school nutrition program
  • $20,000 to the Salvation Army’s Food on the Move
  • $180,000 for school nutrition programs divided between Regina Public Schools and the Regina Catholic School Division

“At PotashCorp, we produce crop nutrients to help to feed our growing world. But we want to ensure that we’re also playing a key role in feeding our kids here at home,” said Rhonda Speiss, PotashCorp’s Manager, Community Investment. “In Regina, we have a variety of great food agencies. We are thrilled to see each of them fill a niche in the food security continuum and collaborating to have the greatest impact.”
