The Veterans Group Launches 'Pave the Way' Capital Campaign to Purchase Homes for 43 Veterans
Their goal is simple. TVG wants to purchase the properties they currently rent,so the homes remain for our Veterans and their families
The Veterans Group has contracted with That’s My Brick, to unveil the group's “Pave the Way”- A Capital Campaign. This is a Capital Fund Raising Campaign to raise money to help TVG purchase the homes that care for 43 Veterans. Their goal is simple. The Veterans Group wants to purchase the properties they currently rent, in order to ensure that the homes will forever remain a safe haven for American Veterans and their families, whom struggle with addictions. Veterans have been calling this their homes since 1946!
“You only have to visit the Veterans who live here one time, and you realize how much TVG is impacting the lives of these Veterans. These are the same guys who sacrificed their lives, so we have the freedom to live our lives. I am so excited to be involved with these Veterans and strongly believe it is our turn to “Pave the Way” for these courageous Veterans and help their healing.”says Bob Adams, a member of TVG Board of Directors.
The facility is very much a family like atmosphere. The warm and inclusive environment of the house helps to reestablish the Veterans’ self-esteem and dignity. For the Veterans, being with other residents with similar experiences and issues helps foster trust, growth and recovery.
The staff is committed to supporting the Veterans through this transitional time in their lives. The facility provides three healthy meals a day, safe shelter and case management services. During their stay at the facility, the Veterans are provided with job training in our Independence Blue Cross Training Center and opportunities coordinated with local businesses and universities.
As they begin their journey to “Pave the Way” this Memorial Day, you can help make this happen with your donation! Please visit the "Pave the Way" website to make your donation - http://www.thatsmybrick.com/veteransgroup.
About The Veterans Group
The Veterans’ Group is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in the Powelton Village section of West Philadelphia.
It's mission is to empower Veterans who are facing addiction challenges to once again become productive members of society. The organization primarily does this through the operation of a transitional housing facility located at 3209 and 3211 Baring Street.
This facility provides housing for 43 Veterans, many of whom are struggling with the aftermath of substance abuse, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), or the prospects of extended homelessness. The facility is believed to have the largest population of transitional Veterans located within the city of Philadelphia.
The Veterans’ Group prides itself on bridging the gap between hospitals and rehabilitation centers back to civilian society for Veterans. Most residents come to the facility after the completion of programs at substance abuse or PTSD treatment centers. Some of the residents come directly from The Philadelphia Veterans’ Affairs (VA) Hospital, which is located only blocks away from the facility. The close proximity provides all of the Veterans with easy and stress-free access to appointments and services with the VA. The location also provides residents wide access to a variety of public transportation options, increasing employment opportunities.
