Oil & Gas UK Response to Wood Group PSN’s Plan to Review Contractor Rates

Dr Alix Thom, Oil & Gas UK’s employment and skills issues manager, said: “Less than two weeks ago Oil & Gas UK held an industry seminar which included the economics of the basin and the challenge of rising labour costs and their contribution to inflation.  The ongoing increase in contractor rates was highlighted, as was the impact the culture has on the potential supply of future leaders.  Like a number of other sectors, our industry faces competition for people with the right skills and experience to overcome the challenges of production in the UKCS but we must pull out all the stops to ensure that this doesn’t make operating here too expensive.”
