St. Mary's Gospel Choir will perform at the World Premiere of "The Trouble with TQ," a documentary film about the controversial priest, Rev. Thomas J. Quinlan.

The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception’s Gospel choir will perform at the world premiere of “The Trouble with TQ,” a documentary about controversial priest Rev. Thomas J. Quinlan. Quinlan, known as “TQ,” was pastor at St. Mary’s for nine years. Even after leaving St. Mary’s, the Gospel Choir was a musical fixture at nearly all of TQ’s milestone celebrations, so it is fitting they would lend their voices at the premiere of a film about his colorful career.

Quinlan acknowledged the integral role music plays in worship, stating, “The worship leader should be the highest paid person in the church.” In the film he acknowledged the deep well of talent he found at St. Mary’s, “…every tenth person could sing and dance and act.” TQ nurtured that talent during his tenure and today the Gospel Choir is an oft-requested, constantly booked group, popular with Protestants and Catholics alike.
