Albuquerque Relocation Specialist Says New Mexico Tesla Gigafactory Could Power Economy For Decades

Tesla Gigafactory Could Power Albuquerque Real Estate Market For Decades

ALBUQUERQUE, NM, USA, April 3, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Joe Maez of The Maez Group says the Tesla Gigafactory, an ambitious battery factory that the electric car automaker could bring to the Albuquerque, New Mexico area, may be the economic engine to drive Albuquerque business and real estate market growth for decades to come.

Joe Maez, the real estate agent behind The Maez Group, says if Albuquerque gets the Tesla battery factory, it will likely become the leading economic engine for the local business and real estate market for decades.

Much press coverage has been devoted to the battery factory project recently, dubbed the "Gigafactory" by Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA ), but several regions are competing to host the up-and-coming electric automaker's plant.

"Analysts are saying that Southern New Mexico and Texas communities are not being considered, but Albuquerque is still very much in the running. This is very exciting to me," Maez says, "because the Tesla factory would definitely be a power plant for jobs and economic growth."

He predicts it could create a boom in the Albuquerque real estate market that is unprecedented in the region, not to mention to the state.

"This is being billed as a $5 billion project, but the truth is that number, as huge as it is, is a small fraction of its total impact on the local economy and the Albuquerque home market," he says.

According to Maez, even the mere announcement that the Gigafactory is coming to Albuquerque will spark some early building by home builders seeking to prepare for the influx of employees that would work there.

"We're hearing numbers like 6,500 employees by 2020, and in the housing market, that is immediately actionable. I think we'll see smart builders picking up tracts of land, not just for residential use, but for commercial applications as well when the announcement comes," he says.

He says The Maez Group would love to help with employee and executive relocation services for Tesla.

"We'll help in any way we can. We think Albuquerque is the right place for the Gigafactory, but I have to admit, we're a little biased," he says.

According to Maez, state and local officials, as well as citizens and businesses, should be doing what they can to bring the factory to Albuquerque.

Most of all, Maez wants the message to get back to Tesla: "Choose Albuquerque and we'll roll out the red carpet for you."
